Biography

Joe has 20 years of experience serving the financial services industry, with a focus on the asset management industry (hedge funds, mutual funds, private equity funds, digital asset companies and internal control reports for administrators). 

As EY Global Blockchain Assurance Leader, Joe is leading the EY organization’s efforts to build a globally integrated blockchain assurance platform, servicing clients across all aspects of the blockchain ecosystem. 

Joe has coordinated some of our largest and most complex mutual fund, hedge fund and REIT audits. His experience includes digital asset audits, transfer agent reviews, SSAE 16 reviews, SEC compliance engagements, investment advisor audits, fund mergers, integrated audits, benefit plans and agreed-upon procedure engagements.  

Joe has developed and led training courses on accounting and audit issues facing the asset management industry and has served as a national audit quality reviewer for our Assurance service line. Additionally, Joe has served as part of the EY national valuation group. 

Joe has also helped to lead and develop EY assurance efforts around blockchain and cryptocurrency. He has helped in the development of audit methodology and documentation surrounding various digital assets.  

Joe graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Joe is a certified public accountant licensed in the state of Minnesota and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
